Braun LV 1020 Powered Control Monitors - The Very Best of Braun/ADS

There are rare items, and then there's this: The Braun LV 1020 Powered Control Monitor. The LV 1020 is not just another speaker.  It was specifically engineered and designed as a studio playback monitor from 1971 to 1976 by the German electronics giant, Braun, and later imported to the US by legendary speaker company, ADS.  The LV 1020 is rooted in some of the most prestigious audio history out there. 

The system is self-powered.  A large power supply is positioned at the rear of the speaker, where all of the external connections can be found.  Mains power (in and out), and audio line input (right and left) are found at the rear.  Each speaker uses a 7-pin DIN connector as the input, and can be configured for either right, left of mono operation.  At the top of the speaker, is a very sophisticated tri-amplification module consisting of an active crossover with EQ.  Each driver is separately amplified to exact specifications, optimal for performance.  The tweeter receives 20 watts, the midrange 30 watts, and the woofer 50 watts.  

Controls on the front of the amp module allow the user to fine tune highs, mids, and lows to suit listening conditions.  This design facilitated the ability to have the speakers stand-mounted, bracket-mounted, or soffit-mounted to meet each studio's functional needs.

The drivers consist of Braun's iconic 1" coated silk dome tweeter, 2" coated silk dome midrange, and a massive 12" paper cone woofer with a giant magnet structure behind it. The enclosure is sealed for rich, tight bass response. These components mesh together to create what would later become the Braun/ADS signature sound which carried the company forward for another 2 decades and is still sought after today. 

Of course, this system has been completely serviced.  Both amp modules revised and tested by our expert tech.  High and mid drivers were sent to the legendary Richard So for service and have been rebuilt to their original specifications.  The teak finish on the wood casework is in very good condition with only minor signs of wear, and this set does come with the 8" ADS risers as part of the sale.
