McIntosh is probably best known for its tuners, amplifiers and preamplifiers.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe MX115 solid state \"preceiver\" is one vintage McIntosh product that realized significant success during its run from 1972 to 1974.  The concept of a \"preceiver\" is relatively easy to explain.  Take a receiver, strip out the power amplifier section, and enhance the functionality of the preamp... \u003cem\u003eet voila\u003c\/em\u003e!  On the tuning side, the MX115 almost completely integrated the highly regarded MR74 design.  The user-adjustable selectivity on the front panel and low-distortion tuning behavior afforded the listener with market-leading FM reception.  \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe MX115's preamp side was borrowed from McIntosh's C26 preamp, another tried and true classic.  The internal phono preamplifier was equally lauded by the press. The negative feedback design of the phono stage, coupled with McIntosh's own twist on RIAA equalization provide low-distortion, full-response phono playback for MM cartridges as well.  The line-level inputs are complimented by the unit's high-efficiency power supply, one of McIntosh's specialities. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cspan data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eCoupled with a classic McIntosh solid state power amp of the same vintage, and the MX115 is a giant-killer, even today.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThis unit has been serviced by our in-house tech, tuning and all functionality verified.
