It records in one direction, so you have to flip the reels to record all tracks, but it will \u003cb\u003eplay in both directions\u003c\/b\u003e. The auto-reverse function detects a small piece of aluminum tape attached to the end of the tape. Please note that the Auto-Reverse function only works when the tape reaches the end in the forward direction, it will auto-reverse into the reverse direction but it will not auto-reverse again when it reaches the beginning of the tape, that's the way it is designed.
