Adcom GFA-585 Limited Edition... Rare & Fabulous Power Package

The Adcom GFA-585 Limited Edition power amplifier can drive a very broad range of loudspeakers including those with very low impedances, at high-power levels all day long.  This low-distortion design was carried over from the Nelson Pass designed 555 and the later 565 mono blocks which were designed by Walt Jung and Victor Campos.  In fact, the 585 is essentially two 565 mono block amplifiers in one chassis. 

Great care was taken to insure that distortion in the amplifier would remain extremely low, particularly when driving highly reactive and challenging loads in which the phase angles of the voltage and the current are substantially different. A little known fact is that amplifiers which measure extremely well on the test bench into a resistive load may not develop the same amount of power into a loudspeaker.

This GFA-585 Limited Edition has been restored by EBC Electronics of Manville, New Jersey - The pre-eminent expert on these amps still operating in the USA.  A little research will yield a new version of the 585 amplifier available from Adcom directly.  Know that these new 585 SE models are not made in the US and the company is not the same as it was when this beast was assembled. 

Want all the high current power to fire your tough load... this Adcom is the Tony Soprano of power amps. Not much to look at but when you need a "tuff guy" this Adcom shows up and lays the hammer down.  With 250 wpc into 8 ohms and 400 wpc into 4 ohms, this amp is NOT SHY on power.
