The Amber Series 50b, introduced in the early 1980s, quietly earned its place among audiophiles who appreciate understated excellence.  Originally, the company was imported to the US from Australia, but in the early 1980s were making their products in Virginia.

The amplifier delivers a refined 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms, yet it’s capable of pushing closer to 90 watts into a 4-ohm load—thanks to its robust Class-AB power stage using composite-pair bipolar transistors.  The total harmonic distortion is impressively low—0.01%—and the signal-to-noise ratio is a noise-vanishing 90 dB, making quiet passages whisper-clean and powerful sections smooth and controlled.

Beyond amplification, the Series 50b includes a sophisticated phono stage with MM/MC support, featuring true DC-coupled design, precision RIAA networks, ferrite-bead interference suppression, and selectable loading via DIP switch—a thoughtful detail for vinyl lovers.  Its tone controls use active Baxandall circuitry, letting you subtly adjust bass or treble without compromising midrange integrity, thanks to carefully chosen hinge frequencies.

This integrated amp is a real all-arounder: refined, understated, powerful, and musically balanced.  it looks fantastic with the simple anodized black front panel and walnut veneered side "cheeks."

This is a rare find in this condition, serviced, with a clean bill of health.  Ready to rock some 80s jams for another couple of decades.
