The Klipsch Tractrix horn design was introduced in the 1960s and still amazes listeners today. The Tractrix horn's shape is what separates it from more common exponential horns. The curvature is meant to reduce "beaminess" and improve directionality down to the driver's resonant frequency. Mostly suited for 2-way designs, the horn has been a very effective tool for Klipsch for about 5 decades.
The Reference IV RS-62 Surround Bipole Speaker uses such a horn in its design. Made specifically as surround/effects speakers in a multi-channel home theater THX equalized system, the RS-62 is almost a full range speaker on its own. With a very impressive 52-23,000 Hz frequency response, each speaker features twin-offset titanium diaphragm compression drivers with Tractrix horns and 6.5" ceramic-metallic hybrid cone woofers. The side-firing bass ports allow the woofers to generate convincing bass response from relatively small angular cabinets.
The speakers provide both excellent coverage and clarity making them extremely versatile in home theater use.
This set had been lightly used for a few years, mounted high on a side wall. Very little wear to the cabinets and the speakers themselves sound as good as new.
Demos are encouraged in Andover, MA.
