Luxman R-117, "Almost-Vintage" Monster Receiver

Luxman was formed in 1925 to support Japan's burgeoning radio broadcasting industry.  Luxman's legacy has always been exceptional audio signal quality.  From professional broadcast equipment, down to entry-level home audio, Luxman is a brand long-associated with excellence.  

The R-117 receiver was has become known as the company's "monster receiver" from the late-80s era.  Introduced in 1990 just before the surround-sound takeover of the audio industry, the R-117 featured a massive 160 watts per channel of clean, clear, and detailed solid state power.  This receiver was probably the last bastion of high-powered, superb-quality, 2-channel receivers to hit the market from a major manufacturer.  

In addition to output power, the R-117 includes an impeccable preamp function and a MOSFET-based digital FM tuner with incredible strength and signal quality.  The unit also features composite video switching, which is a relic today, but at the time allowed this receiver to be a true household AV control center. 

This unit is super clean and comes with the original remote control. No disappointments at all!
