Marantz 2325 Stereophonic Receiver (1974-77)
The Marantz 2325 is a legendary stereophonic receiver from the golden era of audio, renowned for its superb listening quality across all sources. Whether you're powering high-efficiency speakers or systems with very low efficiency, the Marantz 2325 delivers full, clear sound, even in large rooms. Its classic design and top-tier performance make it a must-have for audiophiles and collectors alike. Packing 125 watts per/channel this beast is capable of driving the toughest loads. Back in the day you might find these paired with JBL/Audio Research/ADS/EPI or any number of vital speaker brands of this era. So, if you’re looking at this ad you probably already know the story behind the famous Marantz 2325. The Marantz 2325 stereophonic receiver was manufactured from 1974 through 1976 and was their flagship model during this time. The Marantz 2325 is a classic audio masterpiece in every sense of the word. The 2325 is rated by many audio experts to be the best receiver ever made by Marantz. Historians also consider the 2325 as Marantz’s high mark in audio history. This receiver cost $799.95 in 1974 dollars, equivalent to $3,800 today! If you wanted the best this is what the 2325 cost over 44 years ago. In spite of its cost, this unit was one of the most popular Marantz models ever made, with over 100,000 units being produced. How many are left, no one knows, they are getting harder and harder to find. Furthermore, almost none are ever offered for sale that are truly fully restored and in this condition.
We have taken the liberty to quote from another respected collector/seller who provided the following information abut this iconic Marantz receiver.
“The 2325 boasts a very conservative power rating of 125 watts per channel into an 8-ohm load, with a ridiculously low (even by today's standards) 0.15% distortion spec at full rated output. In fact, a unit was bench-tested by a popular hi-fi magazine at half that distortion rating. The way output power is measured and advertised has changed significantly over the years, this 125 watt per channel rated Marantz could easily keep pace with modern units rated at twice the power - without even breaking a sweat.
The 2325 was the only Marantz Receiver offered with a cool little perk - a fully equipped, on-board Dolby™ encoding and decoding noise reduction system. Not just a useless IC chip, mind you, this is a sophisticated noise reduction circuitry, enabling specific Dolby™ threshold calibration of both recording and playback - it even comes with a 400Hz reference tone generator! With the 2325, you could (and still can) knock out most of the tape hiss on recordings made on decks having no noise reduction capability at all. Take note, reel-to-reel fans! Finally, the sound quality, you can throw specs all over the place, but some units just sound better than others.”
This Marantz 2325 has been bench tested, totally serviced & cleaned for function/performance and is fully 100% operational. All dial lights have been replaced and upgraded to LED for enhanced its already killer aura. It features a spectacular zebra wood case, which is flawless in every way from proper use & care. Please know, we are big fans of vintage Marantz (and others) but this amp is special, it 100% checks off all the boxes for us in performance, overall vibe, and collectability. Been looking for "the right" big receiver - people, this is IT!
