Revox-Studer have had a manufacturing partnership in the audio world for roughly 5 decades. As a world leader in studio recording equipment, precision motor controls, and mechanical durability, the Revox-Studer partnership is nearly unmatched. In 1985, Revox introduced the improved B215 cassette player/recorder. Improved in the sense that it was modernized to include touch-sensitive electronic controls, a departure from the B710 model the preceded it, which used more traditional 1970s-style knobs and switches. The B215 was the new guard in high end tape transport.
Manufactured by Studer, the 4-motor design was an instant hit despite its lofty retail price of almost $1,400! Back then -- heck even today -- that was a lot of coin! The "pro" version of the same deck was branded as a Studer 721 and was installed in numerous recording studios the world over. Compared head-to-head (pun, intended!) with the Nakamichi Dragon, the B215 holds its own and some might favor it. The rugged transport, electronically controlled speed, and auto-biasing, auto-calibrating playback mechanisms mean that all of the best qualities of tape playback are brought forward.
This unit has been fully serviced by our in-house tech with a complete internal mechanical overhaul. It's physically in pristine condition and mates perfectly with the B226 CD player we will be listing in the coming weeks.
Priced according to condition and service history.
