Offered here is a beautifully matched and fully functional vintage Yamaha duo: the DSP-3000 Digital Sound Field Processor, one of Yamaha’s most advanced audio processors of its era, and the MX-55 Stereo Power Amplifier, a powerful, clean-sounding amplifier known for its musicality and reliability. Together, they represent a unique opportunity to own a sophisticated, synergistic sound system built with the engineering precision Yamaha was known for during its golden age of hi-fi innovation.

The DSP-3000, released in the early 1990s, was Yamaha’s flagship digital sound field processor—a statement piece that bridged the world of high-fidelity stereo and emerging home theater formats. It features Yamaha’s proprietary DSP technology, capable of creating richly detailed sound fields modeled after real acoustic environments, including concert halls, jazz clubs, cathedrals, and cinema spaces. With eight configurable DSP programs and a detailed 4-channel output matrix, the DSP-3000 allows you to build immersive, enveloping surround experiences even from two-channel sources.

Equipped with both analog and digital inputs (including coaxial and optical), this processor offers flexible connectivity, while its heavy-duty construction and intuitive interface signal Yamaha's commitment to both performance and usability. Internally, the DSP-3000 houses multiple 24-bit DSP chips and a high-precision 18-bit DAC, ensuring that both spatial effects and stereo playback maintain audiophile-grade clarity and definition.

To drive the system with authority, the Yamaha MX-55 configurable 2- or 4- channel stereo power amplifier complements the processor perfectly. Delivering a robust 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms in 2-channel stereo mode, the MX-55 is a Class AB amplifier designed for stability, dynamic headroom, and low distortion across the frequency spectrum. The style and design fully match the DSP-3000 and have a gorgeous 1990s brushed titanium aesthetic.

Cosmetically, both units are nearly perfect — nothing to distract from their presentation or performance. All functions have been tested and operate as expected. They come with their original boxes and packaging and are just like unwrapping them for the first time, 35 years ago.
