404 Standard Integrated

The Moonriver 404 Standard integrated amplifier is the start of an incredible system and audio journey.  Hand crafted in Sweden, the 404 is statement in visual simplicity.  But what lies beneath is a complex series of circuits designed to open up new possibilities in music recordings.  An award-winning piece, the 404 has been recognized as a Hi-Fi+ "Highly Recommended" product and The Ear Magazine's Editor's Choice. 

Everything starts with clean power, and the 404 is no different. A hefty supply section ensures that ample healthy power is available at all times at all stages through separate rails.  The power supply sports 57,000uf of capacitance to ensure that there's enough energy on tap when needed for big musical moments.  The power is fed to a fully discrete preamp section which provides just the right amount of control.  The single then passes to a fully custom-optimized output stage, designed for high bandwidth and low distortion.  

The power amp section of the 404 uses all discrete circuits for what seems like a modest 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms.  But, in reality the power delivery and dynamics give the sense of a much larger engine pushing out tune after tune. 

The short trace, direct signal paths, and clean and clear internal vision are mimicked outside the unit as well.  The 404 is a classic design with a modern touch; high quality materials such as turned aluminum knobs, solid walnut appliqué, sturdy enclosure, and an ergonomic user interface all combine to create what will be a "Future Classic."

There are no forced aesthetics here: no display with complicated serial menus and hidden functions, nor a single multi-function knob for “minimalistic” purposes.

The heart of Model 404 is pure and minimal but the interface is user oriented and easy to operate by anyone in seconds with no need to resort to the user manual. Four knobs and three switches give direct access to any function.
