Snell Acoustics XA 2900 Center Channel, Mega-Speaker!

Like all classic audio companies, Snell Acoustics evolved considerably from its first days to the age of home theater.  With this growth and change came the need to develop a full compliment of speakers for home theater purposes that could simultaneously serve up music with convincing authority.  Snell excelled in this arena, where many other companies faltered.  Part of this has to do with the company's speaker designs and driver selection.  Usually easy to drive and versatile, Snell speakers could be powered well by modest home theater receivers, but then gave the listener a real "wow" experience with good, solid power.  

The XA 2900 was part of Snell's THX Ultra home theater product offerings in the early 2000s.  Sold in two varieties, "Tall" and "Standard Center" the XA 2900 was in any format, Large! This "Standard/Center" type of speaker is built incredibly well and is heavier than most people's L/R pairs combined.  The construction of the cabinet is top-tier, with copious internal bracing, double-thick MDF walls, and a beautiful, eye-popping black oak painted finish.  

The driver compliment consists of a 5-element "eXpanding Line Array" - a take on a more traditional d'Appolito array.  The same concept utilized in the earlier XA series, and the XA Reference we also are featuring on our web site.  Every driver by Vifa/Scanspeak was carefully chosen, matched, and aligned for perfect aural symmetry and a perfect timbre match to Snell's other Reference components.  

The speaker plays incredibly well, with smooth vocal presentation and dynamics that will knock you to attention with the right media. Bass from this one speaker is impactful and the sound stage is immense as a result of the eXpanding Line Array design concept. Also, the front-mounted crossover adjustment switches allow for fine-tuning the speaker to your personal listing environment. 

This center is in very good physical and sonic condition.  It's ready to play and priced VERY affordably.

We haven't seen a center channel speaker quite like this before, and we may never again.  Originally $7,500, this is a rare opportunity at an exceptional value.
