In and around 1989, CD players were popping up everywhere, in all different varieties and formats, and styles.  The CD carousel was becoming popular in the home, where house parties could be queued up with the touch of a button.  Load 5 or 6 of your fave CDs in the tray and hit "Random" while belting out Madonna's latest hit or Boston's oldest.

Denon was known for building quality CD players, with mechanism that were rock solid.  As a departure from the carousel tray, Denon made home and car audio decks using a CD cartridge.  A very popular space saving feature in autos, it only made sense that you'd pop the cartridge out of your IROC-Z when you got home and popped it into your home player with your TV tray and microwaved HungryMan dinner.

The DCM-555 is one such player, however, this one comes with a twist...A single-disc tray mechanism!  Oh!  One aspect to this approach which makes this DCM-555 compelling is this very tray.  With a more stable platform than the thinner 6-disc cart, the single-tray offered cleaner playback with lower loss and lower internal noise.

Sound is clean, crisp and oh-so 80s-CD-like.   The 4X oversampling PCM internal DAC does a great job pulling all the bits out of the disc and translating them into great sounding music.

Besides a few scratches on the top case, this unit is ready to go. Demos encouraged in Andover, MA.
