Here we have yet another classic, and highly sight after Marantz stereo receiver, the 2250. Like its predecessors, the 2250 includes a number of necessary features for the time: A top tier AM and FM Stereo tuner, a tape loop, MM phono input, and aux input. It also features a pre-out/main-in loop which is useful for outboard processors, EQs, or additional power amps. At an "advertised" 50 watts per channel, the 2250 packs quite a punch and successfully maneuvers any speaker we have paired with it.
And also like other Marantz components of this 1970s era, the design is classic and timeless. Suitable for mid-century modern, traditional, or contemporary environments, the soft blue hue of the upgraded LED lighting, the warmth of the real walnut veneered casework, and the brightness of the brushed aluminum faceplate are emblematic of this time period.
This receiver delivers smooth, clean power with a balanced and super detailed soundstage. Bass response is tight and controlled and midrange presence is felt as well as heard. The 2250 has always been a nearly unbeatable combination of sound and style.
This would be an excellent piece for a living room perched on top of a MCM credenza with a pair of AR3a speakers on little walnut risers. Without question one of the cleanest we've ever seen. As with all of our equipment, this piece has been serviced, recapped, and restored.
We don't think there is a nicer 2250 on the market today.
