Nakamichi EC-100 "Black Box" Electronic Crossover & Power Supply
Nakamichi manufactured nearly every type of audio device, gadget, or trinket for home or car audio. The company's peak occurred in the mid-1980s. Nak was the darling Japanese brand for every audio magazine around, known for packing amazing quality and sonics into small unassuming packages. At the time, the world of hifi was expanding in all directions, and utilizing multiple amplifiers and electronic crossovers for home audio become an interesting proposition for some seeking to have that "in-studio" experience in the comforts of their own home.
The Nakamichi EC-100 and PS-100 were sold as a pair to accomplish this task. The EC-100 features variable crossover frequencies, each with a 12 dB/octave slope for a gradual transition for either unpowered subwoofers, or systems where dynamics would be improved by decoupling the lowest notes from smaller and more sensitive drivers. The PS-100 power supply is tethered by a DIN connector and provides exactly the right amount of DC voltage to the crossover to ensure proper calibration and quiet operation. Rare to see these two together and a really nice add-on for someone looking to experiment with bi-amping without spending and arm and a leg.
Includes owners manuals for both pieces.
