Even people who aren’t into hifi know Radio Shack, and anyone who knows Radio Shack knows the Realistic brand. In the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, Radio Shack/Realistic/Optimus gear was competing head-to-head with the Pioneers and Sansuis of the world.

The Realistic STA-3200 is a really clean, full-featured home audio component manufactured during the early 1980s. The STA-3200 sat at the top of the Realistic receiver lineup of its time and is often regarded by collectors and vintage audio enthusiasts as one of the most refined and feature-rich receivers the company ever produced.

Central to the STA-3200’s performance is its high-power output section, which delivers a substantial 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms, though many users report real-world performance that exceeds this conservative rating. The amplifier stage employs discrete transistors and exhibits excellent transient response, low distortion, and a smooth, dynamic presentation, particularly well-suited for classic rock, jazz, or any music requiring impactful low-end and clean midrange reproduction.

This receiver also features a high-sensitivity FM/AM tuner section, which benefits from a precision-engineered front end and a carefully tuned IF stage. The result is excellent signal stability, stereo separation, and low noise floor when receiving FM broadcasts.

Yes, the above is a glowing review of a 1980s Realistic receiver, because this unit deserves it.  It does have a nice, clean sound, and pushes speakers around with authority.  And for the price?!? It's a real deal!
