Sansui TU-217 Tuner - Steady & Rock Solid Reception

The Sansui TU-217  is a basic, yet well regarded stereo AM/FM tuner known for is great sound quality especially with med to strong signals. It's a simple design with 3 gangs and 2 filters, which some audiophiles believe contributes to its strong performance on stronger stations, according to the Tuner Information Center. It's also considered easy to modify for improved sound. However, it lacks dial lights, making it difficult to tune in the dark, and the muting/stereo switch can be inconvenient for listening to weak stations in stereo. Not a deal breaker by any means but the way this pulls in stations will more than make up for it's design flaw. 

Overall impression is that the Sansui TU-217 is a solid, well-regarded tuner, particularly for those who appreciate simplicity and good sound quality on strong signals. While it has some limitations, it remains a popular choice among vintage audio enthusiasts and for good reason... It's a reception monster retrieving and producing excellent sound clarity. Been gone through and re-calibrated by our in-house analog techs and is performing brilliantly. Light signs of wear but overall a wonderful piece of audio history.
