Sony DVP-NS999ES, DVD/SACD Player

Back in 2003, when the CD format was still king, and DVDs were mid-stride in terms of both video and audio fidelity, Sony used their "ES" line elevate the format even further.  Short for "Elevated Standard" the ES series of components had been around for nearly 2 decades before the DVP-NS999ES was born.  Sony's attention to detail and quality in the construction and final output of their ES components is exemplified in the DVP-NS999ES.  From the first push of the tray-open button to the final note of your favorite CD, it's readily apparent why this particular piece is still so popular among audiophiles and videophiles alike. 

The DVP-NS999ES was built from the ground-up in 2003.  Featuring a more stable chassis with better vibration isolation, larger power transformers, and better EMF shielding, the unit was deigned to be a true flagship product for Sony.  It shines in terms of video/DVD playback, but where it really sets itself apart from others is its audio performance.  The 999ES can handle DVD-Audio, SACD PCM 6-channel and 2-channel audio, as well as standard CD PCM audio...All with commanding authority and clarity. The 999ES was ranked highly for tonality and bass response from reviewer's back in the day. 

This unit works flawlessly.  It shows no signs of wear and plays discs, even challenging ones, without skips or stutters.  The full-featured Sony remote is also included.  Audio outputs include Coaxial, Optical, 2-channel unbalanced analog, and 6-channel unbalanced analog.  Plenty of configurability for most.
