Unison Research Unico Primo

The "Primo" - the first - is an excellent name for this integrated amp.  The first and smallest in the Unico lineup, the Primo is an exceptional value.  This amp bucks the notion that bigger and more expensive systems automatically sound better.  The Primo is the real deal, with sensational imaging and presence, and the ability to put power to speakers with clarity and detail - Just like its bigger brothers.

The Primo pulls from technologies used in the larger siblings and strikes a strong compromise between power and affordability.  For the newcomer to hifi audio, the Primo is the perfect fit. The on-board phono stage (included at no additional cost for a limited time) provides clean, clear resolution for vinyl playback. With 80 watts per channel of solid state output power on tap, the Primo has plenty of headroom for demanding speaker loads and is fully comfortable powering 4 or 6 ohm speakers with control and authority.

Like other Unico designs, the electronic circuitry of the Unico Primo is laid out in two stages. The first stage is of a Class-A ECC83/12AX7 dual-triode tube type, providing low gain with low output impedance.  This stage then feeds into a complimentary MOSFET Class A/AB output stage that emits power so effortlessly you will be drawn into the music in ways you didn't think possible.  The linearity of these design is part of the magic of the Unison sound.  

The power supply circuits have been enhanced thanks to a substantial increase in filter capacitance size and to accommodate Unison's high-quality, shielded and proprietary power transformers. 

The Primo may be compact, but it packs a big punch and delivers a beautiful soundstage with dynamics for hours and hours of listening:
