VFET amplifiers have to be heard to be believed. They were around for a brief period from the mid 1970's until 1980. Because of the high cost of production VFET's are no longer made, replaced by cheaper MOSFET and SIT transistors. This Yamaha B2 is a freaking beast. They were not readily available in North America, if I understand correctly, but Tweeter Etc in the Boston area got their hands on a few and here we are. The Yamaha B power amplifiers were the first power amplifiers in history to use separate L/R power transformers, and they used two matched image VFET transistors per channel. This amp has been prefessionally restored by our tech with the chassis, pots, inputs, and switches having been cleaned. The VFET's were tested and reseated.

Any out of spec capacitors, transistors, resistors, and diodes were replaced. BIAS and offset were set to factory specs. Full internal and external "hygiene" performed in house by our expert tech.

Cosmetic condition is good (7) for an amplifier of this vintage with a wonderful patina. Really an exemplary piece of late 70s High End. This amplifier will power anything to its fullest. Just a remarkable piece of audio history. Oh, and this is #1 of two identical B-2s we have from the same system/owner. Amazing!
