Thiel Audio CS2.2 Coherent Source Tower Speaker System

Thiel Audio manufactured highly sought after hi-end loudspeakers from their Kentucky factory from 1977 to 2018.  Brothers, Jim and Tom Thiel, and partner Kathy Gornik made their name in audio with the study and design of speakers that compensated for time delays between high and low frequency drivers due to the non-concentric nature.  Their studies showed that our ear/brain interpret even the tiniest of time delays as "wrong," which listeners tend to describe as "unmusical" or "unrealistic" sound.

The Coherent Source design used both physical and electrical means to compensate for these anomalies.  Thiel's signature sloped front baffle was the most visible result of these studies. Which all leads us here... The Thiel CS2.2 is a 3-way floorstanding speaker with a passive radiator. A passive radiator gives you a great amount of bass from a limited size cabinet, while also assisting the main woofer. At the top you'll find a very capable midrange and aluminum tweeter. The sloped designs develop perfect time alignment which results in incredible imaging. The cabinets are done in gorgeous Teak which will look great in most living rooms and is an obvious MCM statement finish.

These speakers were have been run through from to back by our in-house tech team and tested in our listening room where they sounded terrific paired with a variety of power packages. They throw a massive highly accurate sound for their footprint. Very responsive with liquid midrange and deep textured bass response. Their speaker terminal connectors are on bottom so you cannot use bananas. We are including a set of banana to flex adapters.

No secret what Thiel fanboys we are at HHA. We have fully restored and marketed about every denomination and model. We have NOT come across a Thiel system we didn't find exceptional. The CS2.2, certainly a reviewer's darling back in the early 90's, are among our very favorites. Not difficult to drive, not overbearing in any room and as the Thiel signature sound goes, 100% right in our wheelhouse. Exceptional speaker system from true hi-end pioneers. Don't want to miss these, extraordinary in every way.

Come have a listen here in Andover.
