Audio Development Company ("ADC") was formed in the early 1960s in Connecticut to produce high-compliance, low-tracking-force phono cartridges for the rapidly growing home hifi market. The ADC XLM series of cartridges are still highly regarded today for their sound quality, durability, and flexibility with a number of arm types.
Later in the company's history, ADC branched out into other audio segments, including outboard phono stages, filters, and equalizers. The Sound Shaper series was very popular, with the "One" being a fairly simplistic, yet effective way of tailoring audio outputs to meet a wide variety of equipment types.
The Sound Shaper One-IC we have here is one of the finest examples we have seen. Looking as if it has never been outside of the original box and packaging, the unit plays perfectly and is quite effective as an EQ. It's low-noise output and simple design make it a great addition to a vintage audio setup, allowing for greater flexibility than the standard Bass/Treble available on most receivers at the time.
The 5-band per channel graphic equalizer gives +/- 12dB of boost or cut for five frequencies: 60Hz, 240Hz, 1kHz, 3.5kHz and 10kHz. This unit has been cleaned and verified by our in-house tech and is ready for many more years of use.
Demos are encouraged in Andover, MA.
