Compared to Aerial's TOL 20T & 10T with their separate molded midrange/tweeter module sitting atop a large bass enclosure, the Model 6 looks pretty conventional; a slim tower with one 7" woofer, a 5" midrange, and a 1" tweeter. A classic 3-way, timeless, but not a major statement in industrial design. However, examine the Model 6 more closely and you'll notice ways in which it stands out from the competition.

For its size, this must be one of the heaviest speakers around @ 60lbs+ each. The weight comes from 2"-thick walls, constrained-layer damping blocks, extensive bracing, and woofers with cast frames and large magnets. The midrange & bass units are made by Danish Sound Company, they are unshielded versions of Aerial's CC3 center-channel driver, and has its own wool-filled chamber within the enclosure. The tweeter, a vented metal-dome unit made exclusively for Aerial by MB Quart, is the same spec as the one in the 10T. The cabinet's joints are extremely tight, which contributes to the rigidity of the enclosure. The wood veneer has a symmetrical pattern on every side. The rounded edges are inlaid wood that matches the flat surfaces of the enclosure. The finish is impeccable albeit this set has a few blemishes.

The Model 6 crossover is built on two glass-epoxy circuit boards, and allows for bi-wiring and,... we are tossing in a terrific set of Cardas "Crosslink" 1S Bi-wire cables; together they arrived and together they shall leave. Crossover points and slopes are not specified, but Michael Kelly admits that the slopes are higher-order and vary from driver to driver. Wiring is the highest-purity copper, and connections are made with silver solder. The crossover uses air-core coils and polypropylene capacitors. The Aerial 6s are front-ported. Placing the port in the front allows the user to place the loudspeaker closer to the back wall than is possible with rear-ported speakers. This can be a real advantage in a small room, where it may be necessary to place the loudspeaker near the wall. The placement of loudspeakers relative to the rear and side walls definitely affects how they sound, since their proximity to walls affects how they "load" the room. The speaker came with plastic feet that can be replaced with spikes if desired.

Being very familiar with the Aerial brand and it's proprietors we can emphatically vouch for the quality build and extraordinary full range sonic footprint of this Model 6 system. They are in good condition with a few nicks and light scratches signs but they truly sing and perform flawlessly. Have also ordered replacement badges so they will have both upon delivery. Had them playing in our high-end room with Plinius electronics and they are truly amazing. Can't possible recommend these speakers enough. NO DISAPPOINTMENTS with these Aerials... would be shocked if the 1st person to stop in and demo these won't leave with them especially offered at this price. Yep, they're THAT good.
