Manufactured by the V-M Corporation—also known as Voice of Music—during the early 1960s, the Deluxe 200 was designed in 1968 as a full-featured integrated receiver combining an FM/AM tuner section with a built-in stereo amplifier, all enclosed within a wooden cabinet that typified the era’s aesthetic sensibilities. This unit represents a convergence of engineering goals: achieving high-fidelity reproduction, component integration, and user accessibility for the growing home audio market.

The amplifier stage of the solid-state Deluxe 200 utilizes a fully complementary push-pull transistor output configuration, which was considered state-of-the-art at the time. This topology enables efficient class AB operation, with output power typically rated in the range of 15 to 25 watts per channel into an 8-ohm load.

The preamplifier section features active tone control circuits for bass and treble, which utilize feedback loops around transistor gain stages to implement equalization. These controls offer smooth adjustment and typically center around traditional turnover frequencies such as 100 Hz for bass and 10 kHz for treble.  The volume control is also a dual-section potentiometer placed ahead of the power amplifier stage, allowing for precise signal level adjustment.

Externally, the Deluxe 200 features a woodgrain-finished cabinet with a brushed aluminum faceplate, blending mid-century modern aesthetics with functional control layout. Large rotary knobs control volume, balance, tone, tuning, and input selection, while pushbuttons or toggles manage functions such as speaker switching, loudness, and stereo/mono operation.

Overall, the V-M. Deluxe 200 exhibits a clean, neutral tone with modest coloration, offering good stereo separation; the way one would expect from a 1960s era time capsule.  This unit has been completely cleaned and serviced by our tech, new bulbs, and a clean bill of health.
