ADS L780 Compact 3-Way Bookshelf Loudspeakers

ADS is yet another iconic New England hifi brand with an incredible product line and history.  Originally an importer of German-made speakers and electronics, ADS gradually grew to replace its distant cousin, Braun, in the mouths of audiophiles from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s.

The L780 was a moderately-priced, mid-sized speaker in ADS's line-up in the late 1980s. As the company's smallest 3-way system at the time, the L780 incorporated ADS's signature "sticky" dome 1.75" midrange and 1" tweeter, and an 8" mineral cone woofer in an acoustic suspension cabinet.  The combination of these drivers, and the sealed enclosure gave this speaker that iconic "New England" sound, but with impressive high frequency extension to match the recording media of the time.

The beveled corners and clean lines of this real walnut veneered cabinet, combined with the "oh-so 80s" metal grills looks fabulous together and have become a classic ADS style.  Physically the speakers are not perfect.  There are a few blemishes which are visible from 2-3 feet away, but certainly no show-stoppers.  These speakers have excellent range and play any kind of music with ease and clarity and they look great doing it.

This pair of speakers has been fully tested and is ready for many more years of music enjoyment.  Demos are encouraged in Andover, MA.
