Dynaco MkIV Tube Mono Amplifiers, Classic Analog Goodness

The Dynaco MkIV tube monoblock amplifiers represent a pinnacle of mid-century high-fidelity design, renowned for their exceptional sonic performance, robust construction, and enduring appeal to audiophiles and collectors alike. Originally designed by David Hafler and released by Dynaco in the early 1960s, the MkIV occupies a unique position in the tube amplifier hierarchy, serving as a scaled-down version of the legendary MkIII while preserving much of its musicality and engineering integrity. Each MkIV is a single-channel (monophonic) amplifier, rated at approximately 40 watts of output power using a pair of EL34/6CA7 output tubes in a push-pull configuration, coupled with a 7199 input/driver tube that provides both voltage amplification and phase splitting. This circuit topology is known for its clarity, wide bandwidth, and musical warmth — hallmarks of Dynaco’s design philosophy and key contributors to the enduring popularity of these units.

This pair of MKIVs are extremely clean, period-correct examples.  They play with the type of tube warmth and softness that is often copied, but never quite replicated.  Part of the allure starts with the Dynaco A-470 output transformers, which assist the tubes in producing such engaging and welcoming sound. Whether driving vintage Klipschorns, JBLs, or modern high-sensitivity speakers, these amplifiers offer a sonic signature that combines the best of vintage tube warmth with surprising detail and control.

As with all of our products, these amps have been vetted by our in-house staff.  Driver boards updated and recapped as needed.  One amp has had the A-470 replaced with a new one to reduce any possibility of out-of-spec performance.
