Yamaha coined its "Natural Sound" branding in the 1970s, a monicker that has survived to today.  The reason for this is the smooth, clean, and effortless way Yamaha components deliver music.  Yamaha amps have long had excellent drive, capable of commanding and controlling many types of challenging speakers, but doing so in a way that reduces fatigue and makes for lengthy musical enjoyment.

The R-90 receiver was launched in 1981 and features 70 watts per channel of power into 8 ohms.  The R-90 came into the market right at the turning point from the analog "knobs and switches" of the 1970s to the "push-button madness" that took over the 1980s. It features an excellent FM tuner with digital presets that store 10 stations (AM or FM) within an internal memory.

This receiver is also packed with other useful features, such as selectable phono loading for both MM/MC cartridge types.  The Yamaha "Spatial Expander" dial maintains its position on the front face to allow for funky fine tuning of your stereo image.  And the 5-band graphic equalizer with memory settings adds even more adaptability for this clean and cool unit.

This R-90 has been tested and cleaned by our in-house tech with a clean bill of health.  It sounds excellent.  The casework is near perfect.
