VPI Super Scoutmaster Reference Turntable with ALL the Upgrades!

This VPI Super Scoutmaster Reference turntable has been loaded with all of the available upgrades to propel it into the highest performance level possible.  For starters, it has been fitted with the JMW Memorial tonearm, named after Harry Weisfeld's late son who sadly passed away in a vehicle accident.  The tonearm was intended to bring the ultimate in performance and sensitivity to the VPI line.  The balancing act this arm possesses allows it to sit perfectly above the record.  The lightweight aluminum components and Nordost Silver internal wiring ensure every aspect of the recording is captured from stylus to terminals. 

Second, VPI's Synchronous Drive System ("SDS") was added.  SDS is a motor controller that provides only the exact, correct operating frequency to the Super Scoutmaster's Twin-motor drive. Reducing and nearly eliminating any variation in speed, the SDS is a wonderful addition to this already stout Scout. 

Next, the originally fitted belt-drive pulley has been replaced in favor of the upgraded rim-drive pulley.  Where the original belt would have wrapped around the platter, producing two contact/friction points in the rotational movement, the high torque rim-drive pulley reduces that contact area to one.  This minimizes vibration that could travel through the system. 

Finally, a German-made Benz Micro Ruby 3H moving coil cartridge has been utilized.  Lauded for its clarity and flexibility, the 3H falls somewhere between an MM and MC at 0.34mV. The user can choose an MM stage with a high gain setting, or an MC stage for all the options. 

Haven’t even gotten into the actual Super Scoutmaster turntable itself, the super-isolating feet, the exceptional build quality of everything from the motors, to the plinth, the hybrid Delrin and stainless steel platter, the precision ball bearing spindle, the VPI platter edge weight and spindle weight... The list is lengthy!  

This table is a must-have for the vinyl aficionado. And a beautiful tribute from a loving family to their late son.
