Adcom Classic 3-Piece Stack, GTP-450, GCD-700, GFA-5400

Almost since the start of the brand, ADCOM has produced some of the finest components for music reproduction; this is especially true with regard to preamplifiers. In 1980’s, the GFP-1A was hailed as the best preamplifier available, and this tradition of excellence has continued ever since. From entry-level components to high-powered mono block amplifiers, Adcom components deliver amazing performance. 

Here we have a lovely short-stack of Adcom gear that plays great and belongs together for a few more decades.  

The GTP-450 tuner/preamplifier is a great, low distortion piece with tons of features and enough inputs and outputs to accommodate nearly any A/V system.  On-board AM/FM tuner, phono stage, and plenty of line inputs with Tape Loops allow for all kinds of peripherals.  The output voltage of the GTP-450 is designed to specifically work with Adcom power amps, and here we have a fantastic match...

The GFA-5400 is a classic, 125-watt-per-channel stereo power amplifier designed for high-fidelity audio systems. It features a robust, high-current design that effortlessly drives demanding speakers with exceptional clarity and dynamic range.  This piece has been fully examined and tested by our service tech and plays with clarity and punch. 

Finally, the GCD-700 is a highly-regarded 5-disc CD changer celebrated by audiophiles for its warm, precise sound, utilizing premium digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and Class-A analog circuitry to deliver exceptional audio quality.  This unit plays discs well, but the tray mechanism is slow and sometimes needs a little nudge to help move in and out.  But playback is nice and the sound quality, perfect. 

Get this 3-piece set for only $699.  A few bumps and scratches here and there, but all very serviceable. A great price for a great starter setup.
