Advent 5002, Large Advent "Reimagined"

The Advent Loudspeaker (AKA "Original Large Advent") had a glorious production run and cemented Henry Kloss's creations as some of the most formidable in the audio scene in the 1960s and 1970s.  When the 5002 was introduced in 1980, it took the OLA's winning formula and refined it further, incorporating design advancements and subtle improvements in build quality and acoustic performance. Housed in a robust, simulated wood-veneer cabinet, the 5002 exhibits a visual charm that evokes the golden age of home stereo systems—a time when listening to music was an immersive, deliberate experience.

Sonically, the Advent 5002 offers a rich and balanced presentation. Its classic acoustic suspension design uses Advent's 10-inch paper pulp cone woofer to deliver deep, articulate bass that feels both authoritative and musical. The 1-inch soft dome tweeter, carefully voiced to complement the woofer's low-end warmth, brings out a smooth and detailed high-frequency response without ever sounding harsh or fatiguing. The new tweeter was a departure from the OLA's 3" paper cone version, but a welcome modernization to the overall time-tested design.  The simplistic 2-way, 2nd order crossover network is engineered to ensure seamless integration between the two drivers and allowing the speakers to sound open and welcoming. 

Despite its vintage status, the 5002 remains highly respected among audiophiles and collectors alike, not only for its performance but also for its historical significance as one of the last true Advent speakers before the brand's identity began to shift under new ownership.

These 5002's have been refoamed and cleaned up nicely.  Original grille fabric is in tact and in great shape.  Barring some very very minor cosmetic blemishes on the bottom edge of one speaker, they look like they are only a few years old...Clearly cared for by their owner who bought them new in 1980!
