This product flattens warped discs (LPs) and returns them to their original condition in just a few hours with an automatic heating & cool down cycle. Music fans around the world love the warm and natural sound of analogue vinyl records. Unfortunately, with long-term storage of vinyl records comes shape distortion that can make your old records sound far from what they should. Even though a slightly warped record might be playable, the added pressure from the stylus will damage the groove adding noise and unnecessary wear that eventually could damage the disc. This innovative audio accessory allows you to correct the warps and avoid shape distortion and wear.

How It Works

Because of sensitivity to heat, the storage method you use for your analog vinyl records is important to avoid warps and other damage. The AirTight Orb Disc Flattener uses a unique heating technique which is applied using two semiconductor heater films — one on the top and one on the bottom. By thermally controlling the heating-up phase and cooling-down phase, the warped record is allowed to properly relax and return to its original flat state. The DF-01iA  heats only the outer edge and center of the record. The grooves are not heated and therefore their sonic shape is preserved.

Aging can also cause warping of vinyl records, and extra care should always be taken. By gently heating the record evenly and with a uniform pressure the vinyl can be returned to its original flat state without degrading the audio quality.

So, there ya go... something that actually works. We warped a 1st edition Beatles Abby Road, (left it in the sun - OUCH) and though it was toast. We fired up the Disc Flatter, baked sucker on medium juice for an extended time and I'll be, by the time it cooled down the LP was totally flat and ready to play again.
