Boston Acoustics first came on the scene in the 1970s, but didn't really make a name for itself until 1980 when "A" series of speakers became available to consumers on a national level thanks to retailers like Tweeter, Etc. Boston Acoustics then blossomed into an audio powerhouse through the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Unfortunately meeting its demise in the mid 2000s, like most of its competitors, when the home theater market started to dry up and personal audio/headphones became the rage.
Well, folks, we are here to tell you the home theater is BACK! Given the quality and quantity of streaming video options out there with content that's not available on the big screen, consumers are back to considering surround sound as art of their weekly at-home entertainment routine.
So here we have a component that could complete a fantastic 5-channel set. The VR-10 center channel speaker. Designed to work with Boston's VR series of speakers, it is voiced to match many generations of Boston Acoustics products. Its compact size (only 18 inches wide) means it hides pretty well on a credenza underneath a TV and completely wakes anyone's audio experience in that environment. The dual 5-1/4" poly cone drivers and 1" alum cone tweeter delivery excellent performance.
This unit was actually used in Boston's marketing material and was never used by a consumer. It has sat in a box in a corporate office for 25 years. It's one from the archives of audio history! In essentially new condition, it of course plays like the day it was made. Not a mark, scratch or smudge on it.
A neat little speaker looking for its second life.
