If you're familiar with tube audio, the name Fisher needs no introduction. Named after Avery Fisher, its founder and guiding light, the company began in 1945 and produced some of the world's best-performing and most elegantly designed high-fidelity equipment during the 1950s and 1960s. The X-100 Integrated Control Amplifier shown here was manufactured from 1962 to 1963. Some tube enthusiasts rank it as one of tube integrateds made. The basic design was a favorite of many copycats, trying to put their spin on Avery's almost perfect execution.
At 17 watts per channel, RMS, with only 0.5% total harmonic distortion, the X-100 features a quad of EL84 output tubes and 12AX7 front-end tubes to provide a detailed and well-rounded sound profile for all types of music. As one of the first stereo integrateds to hit the market this early in the dawn of stereophile listening, the X-100 was a pioneer and set the stage for dozens of other models to follow.
This X-100 has been fully serviced, with a lovely set of NOS tubes installed. The sound is rich, warm, and full of detail. An absolute favorite in the studio, both then and now. Set this amp up with a pair of Altec Bolero, AR2ax, Dynaco A25, or Fisher XP-1 speakers and jut sit back and enjoy seemingly endless hours of music.
And to top it off, this amp is a real looker, with a simple, brushed silver faceplate and gorgeous real walnut case. Just outstanding!
An absolute timeless classic, the X-100 by Fisher can be demo'd in Andover, MA.
