Kenwood began making consumer audio products in the 1960s under the Trio brand. In the 1970s, the company grabbed ahold of the design and power requirements silver-faced era and never looked back. From exceptional tuners to monster receivers, Kenwood products from this time period are built well and provide excellent sound quality.
The KR-9600 AM/FM Stereo Receiver is one example of Kenwood’s lasting excellence in design. Introduced in 1976, the receiver was the top of Kenwood's lineup, sporting a MASSIVE 160 watts per channel into 8 ohms with only 0.08% total harmonic distortion. This receiver is a beast. Hook ANY speaker it it, and you will have power for days and days. Would put this receiver up against some of the much more expensive models of the era from Pioneer, Marantz, and Sansui without question!
Other features include, dual-phono inputs, dual speaker outputs, dual tape loops, low- mid- and high- tone controls with dual loudness adjustment, and balance controls commensurate with the time period. The brushed aluminum front face plate, bold lettering, and blue illumination finish off the classic look of this unit; wrapped in walnut veneered side panels.
This unit looks great, has been serviced and cleaned by our technician, and is ready for many more years of mind-bending musical enjoyment!
Demos are available at our Lawrence MA showroom.
