Kenwood began making consumer audio products in the 1960s under the Trio brand. In the 1970s, the company grabbed ahold of the design and power requirements silver-faced era and never looked back. From exceptional tuners to monster receivers, Kenwood products from this time period are built well and provide excellent sound quality.
This pairing, the KA-3500 and KT-5300 work perfectly together.
The KA-3500 is a smooth operator. Whipping out 40 watts per channel of classic solid state power, the amp is perfectly suited for vintage speakers from the era: JBL, Ohm, Acoustic Research, Advent, etc... Released in 1977, the KT-3500 was thrust right into the silver face receiver playing field. The feel and the look perfectly reflect the era, and the sound is just lovely. Bass, Treble and Loudness controls allow the listener to fine tune the music exactly to their liking. The phono stage is quite clear and robust, and a Tape loop and Aux input round-out the unit's functionality.
The KT-5300 was designed to match the KA-3500 in looks and performance. The KT-5300 AM/FM-Stereo tuner performs admirably indeed! The large, easy-to-read dial and smooth tuning control are precise and tactile. Tuning performance is great with excellent stereo separation in FM mode.
Both pieces have been fully serviced and cleaned by our technician, and are ready for many more years of musical enjoyment! The top case on the tuner is a little worn, but nothing that would affect performance.
Demos are encouraged in Lawrence, MA.
