The KLH Model Sixty turntable is a standout piece of late-1960s to early-1970s American audio engineering, representing the "golden era" of compact, high-fidelity components designed by Henry Kloss. It is best described as a serious, well-built, and aesthetically pleasing belt-drive, semi-automatic turntable that offered "component-level" performance in a stylish, compact package.
The first thing you see on the Model Sixty is its "furniture-grade" walnut wood base, reflecting the 1960s aesthetic of blending audio gear into home decor. It also features a high-quality, lightly tinted, hinged plastic dust cover and was designed to be a centerpiece of a, then, modern, "cool" living room or apartment.
It features a heavy, stable platter for consistent speed, which was a key part of the KLH commitment to quality, preventing the "wobble" or pitch instability found in lesser units. The semi-automatic functionality also makes the Sixty a bit easier to live with than a standard full-manual deck.
This unit has been fully serviced and is fitted with an Audio Technica MG36V Moving Magnet cartridge with a new aftermarket stylus. It's plug and play and ready to run.
A great beginner table.
