This is a gorgeous example of one of Marantz's most collectable vintage receivers. The model 2245 struck nearly a perfect balance between functionality, power, aesthetic, and price in 1972 when it was introduced. The 2245 was able to deliver more than its advertised power (often measured in the mid-50 watts per channel by the audio review experts). This amount of drive and punch allowed the 2245 to be paired with some demanding speaker loads, or power multiple speakers in more than one room or setup.
The 2245 receiver packed a number of necessary features for the time: A top tier AM and FM Stereo tuner, a tape loop, MM phono input, and aux input. It also features a pre-out/main-in loop which is useful for outboard processors, EQs, or additional power amps.
This classic delivers smooth, clean power with a balanced and super detailed soundstage. Bass response is tight and controlled and midrange presence is felt as well as heard. Then, and now, the 2245 is a nearly unbeatable combination of sound and style.
This would be an excellent piece for a living room perched on top of a MCM credenza & pairs well with pretty much all mid century decor. Without question one of the cleanest we've ever seen. As with all of our equipment, this piece has been serviced, recapped, and restored. It appears super clean; and comes complete with the walnut veneered walnut case which just sets it off in the most perfect way.
This is a super find and collector's dream piece.
