McIntosh MR78 Solid State Tuner, Highly Regarded

McIntosh is one of the most dependable brands when it comes to high-end audio systems. For years McIntosh has been recognized by audiophiles throughout the world as equipment that delivers clear and consistent quality in music. McIntosh is probably best known for its amplifiers and preamps, but the company produced many other components and parts for stereo and home theatre over the decades.

The Mclntosh MR78 solid state tuner is a precision-engineered, highly-sensitive FM Multiplex Tuner. Produced from 1978 to 1984, the MR78 is often referred to as the best FM tuner McIntosh made; listed on IEEE's technical journal as an inductee to the "Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame.”

The MR78 not only pulls in stations as clearly as possible, the accuracy of the signal from discovery and interpolation to final output has been nearly unmatched in 50 years.  The MR78 does this with what's called an "Intermediate Frequency Filter" which sets the stage for all the components that follow it to perform to their utmost potential. 

Our example here pulls in stations perfectly with little to no background "hiss."  Our tech has gone through it from top to bottom and it's wonderful.
