MoFi Electronics SourcePoint 10, Massive Performance Monitors

We say "Massive" because these speakers are indeed a little on the large side for what MoFi calls bookshelf speakers, but also because they deliver performance in a massive way.

When Mobile Fidelity Electronics decided they wanted to deign a "point source" speaker at an affordable price, with gobs of performance, they hired the one guy who has proven time and again that he has the chops to deliver that order: Andrew Jones. Andrew Jones is a gun-for-hire with a resume a mile long.  Jones has had key engineering roles at KEF, Infinity, TAD, Pioneer, ELAC, and now, MoFi.  

Jones set out to create a fully integrated driver design with high and mid performance that would match up to competition priced 3-4x higher.  The result is a high-efficiency 10" paper composite cone driver, with a concentrically mounted 1.25" coated fabric dome tweeter.  This "point source" arrangement ensures that high, mid, and low frequencies reach the listener's ear at precisely the right time: using physical attributes and placement, not complex (read: inefficient) crossover wizardry.  This simplistic approach freed Jones to create a crossover network that would stay out of the way of the incoming electrical signal.  This balance yields a speaker that is revealing, coherent, and natural. 

The sculpted front baffle of the cabinet reduces unwanted high frequency diffraction, allowing the traditionally-shaped cabinet design to resemble the size and proportions of vintage speakers of yore.  The side walls of the cabinets are angled slightly to minimize low frequency cancelations.  And the dual rear ported design allows these large drivers to breathe, despite them having a rather tightly-sprung suspension. The result is bass that is clean, lively, and textured. 

We are currently powering the SourcePoint 10 with a new offering from Swedish company, Moonriver.   The Moonriver 404 Reference produces 50 watts per channel of ultra-clean solid state power.  It is visually and sonically the perfect match for these speakers. 

These speakers come with the original packing materials and cartons and can be shipped securely.
