The Nakamichi RX-202 transport features UDAR, Nakamichi's unique uni-directional auto-reverse mechanism, eliminating the azimuth error loss of conventional auto-reverse decks. The music sensing circuit monitors playback and fast forwards through blank 'tail' to provide uninterrupted playback. A dual master fader creates smooth 2 or 4 second fades at a touch.

The frequency response of the RX-202 rivals that of most 3-head decks thanks to a specially designed laminated Sendust record/play head.

If you're looking for a machine that would transfer your valuable vinyl onto the tape with minimal compromise, the Nakamichi RX-202 is your deck. This Nak despite having only basic features is quite sophisticated having a maximum noise isolation from the motors with highly-complicated belt-driven system. That belt-driven system for tape deck works almost the same as belt-driven system for turntables where you have more vibration isolation and less noise transferred in comparison to the direct drive. Makes sense right!

This deck has two motors, two heads, four tape selectors, record-playback memory, record-dim, separate level adjustment for each channel, headphone jack and uniquely designed uni-directional mechanism that lets the head stay on its place unchanged.
