Nikko Electric Works Ltd. began making consumer electronics in 1948 and continued as an independent manufacturer until the mid 1990s.  As with many post-War Japanese brands of the time, Nikko made a name for themselves as budget-oriented and high-quality hifi components, targeted toward ex-pats and other markets beyond Japan's borders.

By 1980, Nikko was hitting its stride with general consumers and audiophiles alike.  Their products continued to be known for high-value at a moderate cost.  Nikko often flexed their muscle with powerful separates like the Alpha, Beta, Gamma series.  But many times people forget that some of Nikko's best products were their stereo receivers.

The NR-1219 is no exception.  It's a monster powered amp at 100 watts per channel that provides plenty of kick and control for speakers from the same era.  With a 94dB signal-to-noise ratio, the NR-1219 provides a very low noise floor, which means cleaner output and more music being delivered to your ears. An advanced receiver design in an easy-to-use format makes the NR-1219 a deluxe receiver in every sense of the word.

The workmanship shows in the choice of advanced low-noise componentry, low distortion, clean, clear FM reception, automatic FM fine tuning, and massive 100 watts of continuous music power per channel, minimum RMS, both channels driven into 8 ohms from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with no more than 0.03% THD, from the direct-coupled power amplifier.

Nikko's refined technology is evident in such developments as the T-Lock tuning system, which fine tunes in the cleanest FM signal with a built-in human body sensor and prevents drift in reception.

An elaborate speaker protection system guards against instability.

The DC power amplifier uses complete push-pull, fully complementary OCL circuitry, leading to extreme low distortion. Overall, very satisfying performance for the committed music lover.
