The Nordost QBASE 8 is a passive, high-performance AC power distribution unit designed specifically for audio and video systems, operating on the principle of providing a clean, low-impedance path from the wall outlet to individual components without utilizing active circuitry or in-line filtering.

At its core is a uniquely implemented "star-earth" topology, which designates one outlet as the "Primary Earth," to which all other output grounds are connected via a resistor, forcing ground currents toward a single center point and eliminating signal/ground path conflicts. This design, housed in a mechanically tuned, extruded aluminum chassis, effectively manages eddy currents and minimizes noise, allowing for superior transient response and a dramatically lowered noise floor.

By connecting the preamplifier or integrated amplifier to the central Primary Earth outlet, users establish a robust, low-impedance ground, ensuring that high-level and low-level components share a harmonious ground reference, resulting in heightened imaging and deeper, cleaner soundstage.
