The OHM C2 speaker was Introduced to the US market in 1977 and had been sold for 5 years until 1982. Considering the original retail price of $695, the C2 was clearly positioned within the high-end segment of the market. At its time, it was Ohm's most successful and most widely known bookshelf speaker. It is a three-way, full-size, monitor-style speaker; having a 10-inch woofer and two tweeters (one low - one dome super tweeter). An interesting feature was a sheet of black Formica-esqe laminate affixed to the back planel to cancel out cabinet vibration and add a sense of luxury should the speakers be located in a space where the backs might be visible.
We come across C2s every once in a while and we feel that they are one of the most all-around satisfying speakers of their generation. They look incredible with the grills off and the real walnut wood veneer on these has been recently oiled and presents beautifully. The woofer foam has been replaced and the crossovers have been completely recapped and rebuilt with high-quality mylar film capacitors.
Physically, they have been extremely well preserved. We have fashioned new grille frames on our in-house CNC router and covered them with new clean cloth. Barring one quarter-sized blemish on the top of one speaker -- no doubt from an incense pyramid..Remember those? -- The speakers are in very clean, presentable condition.
