Bob Carver and Steve Johnston launched Phase Linear in 1970 and shortly following they rocked the audio world (literally!) with the introduction of the Model 700 power amplifier.  The 700 produced 350 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and utilized a few circuit protection and direct coupling tricks that Carver later used in other companies and other designs.  In many ways, the 700 represents the very beginning of Carver's legacy in audio, which continues today.

This amp is a golden-age classic, a time when copper and electricity were cheap, and companies were vying for the most power per dollar they could possibly muster out of the components available at the time.  The Model 700 was often used in both hifi and sound reinforcement applications due to its incredible power and stability, when driving speaker loads above 4 ohm.  The 700 blew away the nearest competition from Crown, the DC-300 which was only rated at 150 watts per channel. This 700 also became very well know for it's low-end foundation and control, and midrange clarity.

This example is in near perfect physical and sonic condition, having been completely checked by our in-house tech.  Both meters function well and illumination has been enhanced by new soft white LEDs.
