Polk Audio Monitor XT20, A Bargain Bookshelf Speaker!

Polk Audio was formed by Matthew Polk, George Klopfer, and Sandy Gross in 1972 with their first commercially available speaker system, the Monitor 7, released in 1974. Using their collective engineering education from Johns Hopkins University, the team was set on utilizing the school's materials research laboratory facilities to their advantage.  Since then the study of how materials react to acoustic signals has been a foundation of the company's designs. 

Buzzing through time almost 5 decades to today, Polk Audio is still cranking out music using advanced material science, quality components, and a simple and effective aesthetic.  The Monitor XT20 is the latest example of this philosophy: bringing an excellent performer to market at an amazingly low $250/pair (New) retail price. 

At the heart of the Monitor XT20 is a 1" Terylene dome tweeter, designed to reproduce high frequencies (up to 40,000 Hz) well beyond the range of human hearing. This ensures you hear every delicate detail in your favorite songs and movie soundtracks. Working in tandem with the tweeter is a robust 6.5" bi-laminate woofer. Driven by a low-resonance MDF enclosure, this woofer provides deep, effortless bass and a smooth, realistic mid-range without any muddy or hollow sounds.

This set are being sold "essentially new" - The owner's life situation changed and this new, unboxed set of XT20 were opened for the first time in our showroom just to take these photos.  A 10/10 set because they are effectively new.
