The Quad 909 is a high-fidelity stereo power amplifier that exemplifies the British brand’s legacy of precision engineering, sonic neutrality, and musical accuracy. First introduced as part of Quad's evolution from the renowned 405 series, the 909 continues the company’s dedication to delivering transparent, uncolored sound reproduction.

At the core of the 909’s performance lies its implementation of Current Dumping technology, a proprietary amplification method developed by Quad’s founder Peter Walker. This innovative circuit topology allows the amplifier to deliver the power and authority of a high-current amplifier while maintaining the finesse and accuracy of a low-power Class A amplifier.  This design results in exceptionally low distortion, wide dynamic range, and a characteristically open, unforced presentation.

The Quad 909 is rated to deliver 140 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and up to 250 watts per channel into 4 ohms, ensuring robust headroom and stable operation across a broad range of speaker impedances. Despite these impressive power ratings, the amplifier maintains Quad’s traditional design ethos, focusing on musical realism rather than brute-force amplification. It can drive both vintage and modern speakers with equal authority, offering excellent control over bass transients, delicate retrieval of low-level detail, and a cohesive soundstage presentation.

This compact and powerful unit has of course been analyzed from top to bottom by our in-house tech, and is ready for dutiful service for years to come.
