RTR Industries G-80 Floor Speakers -SOLD

RTR Industries of Canoga Park, CA was known for its prolific use of alliteration in their marketing materials ("Corinthian Column without Compromise") and also for making very powerful and affordable loudspeakers.  As one of the first US-based companies to use computer simulation to design its speakers, RTR would often design to specific musical listening standards instead of traditional "flat" frequency response measurements.  Their philosophy in design and use of tried and true OEM components from Philips, CTS, and others, meant for simplistic designs that still sound good even by today's standards.

The G-80 series speakers are no exception.  Using an incredibly simplistic design and crossover network, these speakers provide very pleasing full-range sound.  Bass notes from the 8" paper cone woofer are accentuated by a 10" passive radiator panel that extends frequency response below 40 Hz.  The Philips dome tweeter was used by many brands of this era, including McIntosh and Bang & Olufsen.

These speakers were an exceptional bargain in the 1970s, and they are an equal bargain today.
