Sherwood-Newcastle P-965, Multi-Channel Processor & Preamp

The Sherwood-Newcastle P-965 Control Preamplifier was a top-line model back in its day with an original price of nearly $2,000!  Stuffed full of 1990s surround sound technologies, the P-965 was well reviewed and well loved.  These days, the older surround technologies are no longer en vogue, and video requirements almost always favor HDMI over composite video connections.  But, this preamp, in 2-channel mode, is a clean and precise performer. 

With a host of analog and digital inputs, including a built-in phono stage, this preamp really becomes an audio control center in the right setup.  The onboard 192/24 DAC could rival the performance of many "hifi" DACs sold today.  Supported by a huge array of components to reduce jitter, distortion, and ensure proper clocking, the P-965's digital side is robust and musical. 

Another great feature for those 2-channel listeners who use subwoofers, are the on-board bass management and speaker setup features.  

This piece includes both remotes and the original manual.  It works well and sounds lovely doing it.
