Sony TA-F808ES, The Elevated Standard Integrated Amplifier

The Sony TS-F808ES is a stylish, heavy, robust, and high-performing integrated amplifier with all of the analog goodies one might imagine would have been available in 1993.  This is a highly-respected piece of equipment, often called "world class" in period reviews.  Internally, the 808 is built like a tank, weighing-in at just under 60 lbs, using high-grade materials throughout.  

The TS-F808ES starts with dual transformers to control the power delivered to each of the discretely laid out signal and amplification boards located within the unit. Each amp section essentially utilizes separate power supplies for the utmost in separation and nose reduction.  All internal mechanical components such as the Alps volume potentiometer and selection switches exude quality. 

Sound-wise, this amp is absolutely clean.  The amp's power supplies allow it to deliver ample, strong bass with control for even the most demanding of speakers. And the high-end signal chain allows details from mid and high frequencies to come through with a certain realism that can sometimes seem "ghostly."

This amp is a true performer with 120 watts per channel of output power into 8 ohms with less than 0.004% total harmonic distortion. It's essentially lab equipment disguised as hifi.   The onboard phono stage allows for both MM and MC selectable cartridge loading, and three analog tape loops as well as three other line inputs provide a host of connectivity.
