Tandberg TD-20A, Classic Reel-to-Reel Deck
Tandberg, a Norwegian company founded in 1933, built the TD-20A audiophile reel-to-reel tape player/recorder in 1977. Like most of their products, their RTR line was designed to compete with other top products from the United States, Germany, the UK, and Japan.
The TD-20A is a highly-sought deck with impeccable playback performance. The 20A version uses standard play/record equalization, three separate heads (playback, record, and erase), as well as 2- or 4-track stereo or mono operation. The unit can accommodate up to 10.5" reel sizes on both the play and take-up sides. The system frequency response ranges from 20Hz-30kHz with a 66-68 dB signal-to-noise ratio.
The specs on this unit are fantastic. And operation is flawless. This unit was just serviced by our renown tech, Tom Brander. All motors have been adjusted, contact points have been cleaned, and all switches have been serviced to ensure proper operation for many years to come.
This is a fantastic piece, and sounds amazing with well-recorded tapes.
